SCIENCE IN ENGLISH -INNOVATIVE CLASSES AT GIMNAZJUM IM.O.L.WRODARCZYKA IN POLAND

Science in English is an outcome of a study visit organized by CEDEFOP in Mallorca in 2008. The classes began as a pedagogical experiment in September 2010 with an experimental group of students who learnt Science not in their mother tongue which is Polish but in English. Since September 2010 a new group of students’ll take part in the classes which are a pedagogical innovation now. The classes will be carried out twice a week for wider community of students from our school in an ICT classroom.

SYLWIA

Hi! My name's Sylwia Piekarczyk and I've decided to try to teach Science in English. Normally, I'm an English teacher in secondary achool in Poland, Radzionków and I have to admit that I love my job and my students. Thanks to their enthusiasm it was possible to start those classes. I'm actively involved in international projects like Comenius and I try to develop my knowledge by taking part in different trainings. Science in english is a result of one of the study visits I've made.Moreover, the idea of those classes classes were presented in Thessaloniki, Greece as a good example in teaching and learning on an international conference for teachers and education policy makers. With evey year the classes gain on popularity and more and more students from my school do participate in them.

My name is Alexandra Kandzia I’m fifteen and in January I will be sixteen. I live in Radzionkow with my great-grandmother. I go to the third grade Middle School, this year will make a selection of a new school. I'm thinking of Pedagogical and Technical College of Hotel Management. I am nice, friendly, always helping all the people who ask for help, I am sometimes nasty for those who consider themselves to be the best and criticize others .I have got three younger sisters Patricia, Angelica and Alicja, all look like twins, sometimes people confuse us . My hobbies are playing the guitar, meeting with friends, painting and dealing with younger siblings. My best friend are Patricia and Olivia, we already know each other for six years. We help each other and understand without words.
